Luxury Villas in Thailand

Thailand has, over the past few years, seen a large increase in the number of private villas available for holiday rent. Here we investigate the villa market, and make our recommendations as to how to find and book a villa, and where to stay on your next holiday.

These alternatives to hotel or resort accommodation often offer exceptional quality and high standards, but a number of very second rate properties are also broadly advertised on the internet and in some cases offer no more than a room in a tired condominium in a poor location: it is important for the holidaymaker to know how to find an appropriate villa, and to understand the pricing structures generally in place, in order to be sure of securing an enjoyable, clean and properly serviced villa at the right price.

It is perfectly possible to rent your own villa in Thailand for your holiday and to enjoy not only superior accommodation, but also a plethora of services, at rates that in fact make such a holiday the sensible alternative to booking a room - or indeed, for those with friends and family, a number of rooms - in a resort.

Why Thailand?

Thailand is a perfect destination for those who wish to rent their own house or villa, for a number of reasons:

- the Thais are widely recognized as a welcoming, smiling people

- The kingdom's cuisine is world-renowned; whilst most visitors will know the famous dishes such as Tom Yam Kung, the variety of cuisines and regional specialties is great, and even a serious glutton would have trouble trying to experience the exhaustive array of Thai food dishes in just one stay.

- Thailand is a shopper's paradise, offering unique silks, handcrafted furniture and a plethora of exotic items at a fraction of the cost of such goods in the West. Clothes, leather goods and decorative items are often at the top of the visitor's shopping list.

- Thailand offers exceptional value for money: even five Hotel Star cost a fraction of what they are not only in the West but also in other Asian cities like Hong Kong or Singapore.

- Thailand welcomes millions of visitors annually to its shores, and the security staff is generally very good. Each reported crime fell, in general, smaller, with decorative, fraud and the like, but the experienced traveler is unlikely for them. Most visitors feel infinitely safer in Thailand than they ever in comparable cities such asLondon, Paris, New York etc.

Which Thai region should I visit?

The visitor to Thailand today is spoiled for choice, with villas available throughout the kingdom. For shorter stays, we would recommend a single destination stay, so that you can avoid the hassles of travelling and fully explore your chosen location. For longer stays, why not combine a stay in two very different locations, allowing you a greater exposure to the country and its diversity, whilst taking advantage of its inexpensive domestic travel networks? (see below)

Thailand is generally divided into four main regions.

Bangkok and the central Plains

Bangkok is a sprawling metropolis which, despite its famous gridlocked traffic and teeming streets, offers a great variety of things to do and to discover, to those with patience and a will to explore. The restaurants in Bangkok are second to none, whether you seek Thai or foreign cuisines, and its weekend and other Markets are waiting to be discovered, like many of his lesser-known temples. A cruise on the Chao Phraya river - perhaps by private chartered boat long tail - is an excellent way to see most of the city's reduced to tears by the market.

The North

The north is home to cities such as Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son with tropical jungle and mountains to the north attracts those looking for trekking and places of natural beauty. You try to avoidthe larger cities, as tourism is so developed here that you run the risk of simply being "processed" through a number of popular elephant camps and well-trodden hill tribe treks...

The Northeast

The Northeast is the largest region of the kingdom, yet has been largely untouched by tourism. The Northeast (or isan) is the rice-bowl of the country, and is predominantly agricultural, producing rice, sugarcane, tapioca, eucalyptus and, increasingly, rubber. Major centres include Khon Kaen and Udon Thani, and the mighty Mekong river twists along this region's borders. The people here are perhaps the most open and fun-loving in the country, perhaps because their lives are based on village traditions where overt consumerism has been much slower to advance than in the other booming parts of the nation. Travel to the Northeast is recommended for those looking for a unique experience, to get away from the tourist crowds, and to immerse themselves in something new.

The South

The south of Thailand is renowned for its famous beaches and seaside resorts, such as Phuket, Krabi and Koh Samui. Some of the country's most expensive holiday villas are found here. Travellers should be aware of the security issues in the south of the country and avoid journeys to the southernmost provinces: your local government's website will post updated advisories with travel recommendations and warnings.

The vacation villa market

Holiday villas in Thailand tend to fall into one of two categories. They are either privately owned, self-contained homes, or villa units forming part of a resort complex. These are quite different propositions!

Resort Villas

The resort-centred villa essentially comprises a resort's superior room inventory, and will be priced accordingly. In many cases, these villas will have been professionally designed by the hotel designer itself, and then sold to a third party buyer, who in turn joins the letting pool operated by the developer to provide a return on investment on the villa buyer's acquisition.

The advantage here is that the villa occupants will generally be able to avail themselves of the additional facilities or services provided by the resort, albeit at resort prices. The disadvantage is that, for those seeking a more genuine experience, they will find themselves simply a guests within a resort complex, and considered as additional - if well-paying "keys".

Private stand-alone villas

Private villas are generally second homes owned by individuals, located on an individually-held land plot.

These may be rented "as is", with the guests picking up the keys at the start of the trip and returning them at the end, either with or without a cleaning or security deposit. Alternatively, the villa may have its own staff, generally living off property but available throughout your stay to take care of cleaning, laundry, cooking or local visits etc.

Whether you Select a resort villa or hotel suite, you should expect a partial payment at the time of booking to pay either by credit card or to ensure a transfer from a wire.

Tested

We tried a number of holiday villa in Thailand, and the bottom mark a resort villa and a private villa - each with a great vacation, but very different experience.

Green Gecko, Northeast Thailand

Green Gecko is a privately owned house on alarge estate, surrounded by forests, plantations and rice fields in the heart of rural north-east of Thailand, near a town called Udon Thani. Free airport transfer was arranged by 'airport, Asia, Air, Internet via a 50-minute flight from Bangkok with Thai Airways and budget airlines and Nok Air.

In contrast to mainstream sites, our stay here we were able to discover and experience the real Thailand, off the beaten track.

L 'villa's architecture was traditionally Thai: an impressive wooden staircase led up to the raised and enclosed wooden deck, where our delightful private swimming pool was located, with bucolic views of the surrounding countryside and the evening sunsets. The steeply pitched roofs made of terracotta tiles gave the house an almost temple like appearance. A raised and covered "sala" here offered protection from the strong midday sun and became our favourite spot, with its views over the pool.

Accessible from the deck in two separate buildings were the two bedrooms (each air-conditioned), as well as the living and dining room and kitchens. The master bedroom had a sturdy teak four-poster, king sized bed, with a cotton duvet and feather pillows, a large adjoining bathroom and WC and an outside garden shower. The second bedroom had a queen sized four poster, again with a spacious adjoining bathroom / WC.

The main air-conditioned building housed a dining room with a dining table and seating for six, a living room with comfortable sofas and views onto the pool deck, and a sunken area decorated with futons for lounging in front of the large screen LCD television (complete with a separate high-end home theatre system and international satellite channels). Leading off from this area (behind sliding wooden panels) was an additional WC, and a fully equipped Western kitchen (with built in microwave, oven etc), that in turn led out to a stainless steel

Pattaya is the beach resort area which is closest located to Bangkok which is why many local Bangkok residents visit Pattaya during weekends. The beach at Pattaya is actually not very impressive when compared to the beaches found on Phuket or Samui however the beach is not the primary reason why Pattaya is one of the most popular travel destinations in Thailand. The biggest attraction for many visitors is in fact the lively nightlife which can be found in Pattaya. There are thousands of beer bars and other type of Pattaya nightlife venues where tourists can mingle with the lovely Thai girls that work in these establishments. The fastest way to reach Pattaya from Bangkok is by car. A taxi from Bangkok to Pattaya will cost you around 1200 THB.

Samui

Samui is a beautiful tropical island which is located off the east coast of Thailand. The beaches on Samui are even more beautiful then those found on Phuket. The most popular Samui beaches are all located on the east coast of Koh Samui and are Chaweng beach, Lamai beach and Big Buddha beach. Amazing Travel to Thailand

It was a kingdom long before Westerners came and saw. But the Westerners never conquered this tiny Kingdom of Thailand. This Southeast Asian country is known as "The Land of Smiles" - a beautiful place with white beaches, golden temples, and roaming elephants. For those who want to enjoy the sun and the sea, they only have to go to the warm Andaman Sea; for people who want to see large numbers of might gray elephants, they can go to the Khao Sok rain forest where the animals have free rein.

Planning a trip to Thailand would not leave people broke and bankrupt when they return home. Choosing bargain round trip flights to Thailand from Australia and New Zealand are readily available from good carriers, such as Jet International, Tiger Airways, and Thai Airways. Travelers are advised to book their flights November to February. Bangkok is the hub for many Asia and Australasian flights. One word of caution though: hopping from Bangkok to Bali or Vietnam needs a special visa so it is best to carry extra passport photos, just in case.

With a few hundred dollars from quick cash loans, a group of friends could a take a backpacking trip to Thailand and there are plenty of things to enjoy for everyone. For the hardcore athletic types, they could choose from white-water rafting, kayaking, and even wakeboarding. For the ladies who lounge, the Thais are known for their invigorating massages and wellness spas. Even though it's a small country compared to its neighbors like Vietnam and Cambodia, Thailand is full of things to do for adventurous tourists-from elephant rides to night market shopping! When in Bangkok, the crazy capital city, travel experts advise first time tourists not to take taxis because the place is known for crowded streets and terrible traffic. For a unique travel experience, first time tourists could try the river ferries and the Thais' very own motorcycle taxi innovation, popularly known as the tuk-tuk.

Although there are lots to see and experience in Bangkok, adventurous tourists are encouraged to go outside of the bustling city and plan to go to two other choice destinations such as Chiang Mai and Phuket. These are famous resort spots: the former is known for its gastronomic specialties and abundance of exotic animals, like the elephants and the monkeys (incidentally, these creatures have their own training school!) and the latter for its spa treatments and grand hotels. Although travelling is a time of letting go and enjoying every experience, first time tourists should always keep an eye on their travel budget and put close tabs on their reserved fast money so they could still use some when emergencies occur.

Budget Travel In Thailand: How to Travel in Thailand With Style and Without Bankruptcy

Thailand was my first tourist destination outside Europe and North America. Based on the sage advice of my Thailand-experienced friends, I was sure that this paradise vacation would be carried out on ridiculous costs. However, back home, I have found out too late, that during my little Thailand adventure I have spent almost the same amount of money as one of my regular surges to Europe. If only I knew that carefully planning your trip to Thailand can manifest itself in huge savings. The following list includes some solid advice that can help those novice Thailand visitors to save significant amounts of cash and still enjoy their vacation:
1. Season choice. Traveling in Thailand Islands during the low season can save you up to 25% of the accommodation costs (up to 25$ per bungalow per night if you choose high standard - not luxury - accommodation). Similar to many other world locations that are based operate seasonally; there is a significant price fluctuation across seasons. Not less important is that fact that the weather in Thailand is quite pleasant even during the low season. The temperatures' difference between the "hot season" and the "peak season" is miniscule, and during the "wet season" one can experience only a mild occasional rain. Therefore, in Thailand one can lower accommodation costs by avoiding the peak season without paying the price of suffering from unbearable cold or coping with endless monsoon.
2. Transportation. Getting from Bangkok to your final destination in one of the Southern Islands by train or bus instead of by plane can save you up to 80$ each way. You can save a bundle if you arrive to Bangkok International Airport in the evening. In this case you save, besides the gap between relatively expensive airfare and train or bus ticket, the first night's accommodation cost as well (40$ - 100$ per bungalow per night in high standard - not luxury - accommodation).
3. Food. In Western style countries, the more you pay for your dinner the better it is, so everyone can make a personal decision about getting an appropriate cost - benefit balance. In Thailand, and especially in the Southern Islands it is much simpler: in most cases, the cheaper the better. Expensive restaurants in Thailand Islands usually specialize on Western food that is neither authentic nor of superior taste; a standard dinner will cost you 10$ - 30$ in a restaurant of this kind. Alternatively, the dinner in a cheap restaurant with plastic chairs will cost you 3$ - 8$ and it is usually both tasty and authentic. My most disappointing Thai dinner was served in a fancy restaurant in Bangkok and had cost 120$ for a couple, whereas my best dinner was served in a cheap family restaurant in Koh Phangan. The owner - young mom named Mam - prepared the meal for us exactly as we wished it would be and charged us with measly 5-6$ per person.
4. Air Conditioning. The presence of air conditioning in your room can make a huge difference in accommodation rates. For example, the same room rates in the same resort can vary from 15$-30$ for a bungalow with a fan to 40$ - 100$ for an air-conditioned bungalow. Although choosing an air-conditioned room during the hot season (such as March - April) is crucial, if you visit Southern Thailand during the rainy season - a bungalow with a fan can both satisfy your needs and cut your expenses in more than a half.
5. Location Choice. Similar to the beginning of the world, however, in most places where housing prices and the islands of Thailand to choose depends on your situation. The bungalow in the central beach is situated near the airport or harbor full of nightlife, probably twice as expensive in the same bungalow in a quiet secluded beach. However, accessibility is a problem in the islands of Thailand and the taxi fares and taxi boat fares operate under the same principle that overnight rates. So there is arule you may adopt: if you are looking for social activities and busy nightlife- stay close to the airport or seaport; otherwise make a little effort and move after your arrival to a remote beach. You will save up to 60% on the accommodation rates this way.
6. Communication. It will probably not come as a complete shock, but the use of cellular phone from outside of Thailand could be extremely expensive. To save on communication costs you can either buy a local cellular phone with prepaid SIM card or use the Telephone & Internet centers services. Mind you that the cost of these services may vary. As usual, if you're calling overseas from your resort's office - it will be more expensive than using a call center in the town. The cheapest solution is probably giving your phone number to your friends or relatives overseas since every call center has a phone number that can be used for calling back.
7. Price negotiation. In tourist locations in Thailand negotiation is a necessity or a way of life. Likewise, in the less touristy islands and areas price bargaining is accepted as well. Just try it - in Thailand price negotiation isn't considered an embarrassing behavior, so you have nothing to lose.
8. Psychology. Although, in Thailand everything is perceived to be cheaper than in your home country, don't be fooled by the seemingly low prices and control your expenses. Buying an enormous amount of inexpensive things can really add up a surprisingly large sum of money.
In my last visit to Thailand, I followed these guidelines, with perseverance and I was happy to report that to travel in Thailand for more than a simple economic problem, it can be fun. Interestingly, Thailand, spend less - the closest authentic local experience.

Wanting to keep the old airport is understandable, as you know, where everything is like when you have to go to catch your favorite airline, as well as where and what is the procedure to get your luggage and the quickest way through the inches and get a home in a taxi, or your favorite Hotel Bangkok, if you are a businessman or a tourist back in Thailand.

If people have a problem with the new airport in Bangkok should be the case that theTaxi stand. In the past it was thought through the doors at the end of the customs area, as well as the exchange rate, then the sedans, and the gates and the starting point for a taxi. It seems that the dispatcher where to go, and off we went to was a very smooth and efficient process. The taxi rank at the new airport located on the ground and is not marked, the first time through, it turns out that the price is coming to town during the night had risen to 800Baht, but the cab of the Charter, which are mainly there for unsuspecting tourists I suppose, are intertwined. So if you read this, and you get to Bangkok for the first time the new airport, note that a plane has to get off the taxi meter from the baggage claim area to capture. When in Thailand always insist on the meter.

The good news is one of the best international cities in the world such as Singapore, Chicago and San Francisco havebe able to mass-train at the airport, this is going to happen fast and you can see the progress on the road to Bangkok, as they expand the line-out BTS. If this project is complete you will have access to the entire city, and you can get there quickly, regardless of the hour. On the last two trips to the airport in the city, the fare was all together about 350 baht with the toll fee and taxis at the airport, an increase of about 100 baht, the time for a hotel onSuhkumvitt was pretty much the same even if the distance is increased .. If you should come by or the duration of the trip to Pattaya in particular decline during the normal travel time.

Political decline accelerated Thailand Tourism

This is certainly a great honor and not to be underestimated in any way, and proves there is more to the land of smiles as the eye.

Thailand and Scandinavia has long been a strong and profitable relationship with 378 387 Swedish tourists in Switzerland, founded in 2007 and generated somewhere in the region of 25 billion baht in sales.

14.4 million foreigners visited Thailand in 2007 alone, over 45 different countries. The official 2008 data TATbe released, but the mood suggests a slight decline in tourist arrivals following the problems of the world economy.

The crisis is clearly a widespread problem that not every error on the part of Thailand as a major tourist destination in any way. And while companies in Pattaya, Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai have a small fall in profits have noticed what can go on as usual and tourists flock to Thailand four most popular tourist regions.

MikeParry, the British expatriate owner of a bar in Phuket said: "The island is still the place to be, and visitors from around the world come to Phuket in droves, spending lots of money, and the lively atmosphere is still the same ever. To be honest, we start to an influx of visitors from different countries better known than ever before. "

The majority of tourists from Western Europe and Australia to come, but in the last two years there has been a dramatic increase of visitors fromin the Middle East, China, Korea and Japan. This is a growing market, Emirates Airline quickly tried to accommodate the introduction of a new Airbus A380 service from Dubai to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport Megajet. Chumpol Silpa-Archa, Prime Minister of Sport and Tourism, said: "This launch shows how much the airline predicts an increase in visitors to Thailand." TAT expected that visitors from the Middle East will increase by 6.5% in 2009 and Emirates is to be commended for the supervisionand vision.

All major airlines are also set to promote everything to travel in the fight against the global economic downturn, providing added value to a greater number of Thailand. For example, / British Airways Qantas are beginning to offer special discounts on tickets Bangkok economy of Australia and the United Kingdom. From any major city in Australia are British Airways just load 15,590 23,650 BHT and BHT from London for round-trip economyTickets.

David Phelps, an American national who has visited Thailand twice a yearfor the last ten years, he said. "I wanted to come to Thailand on holiday this year, what with the dollar and economic difficulties, but the airlines as well as a great effort in Thailand, falling prices and to promote tourism, I decided my pilgrimage to Usually in this beautiful country that I do a lot of love. "

Repeat visitors accounted for more than one third of Thailand's trade and tourism is not a coincidence. The magnetic pull ofCountry and its people are wonderful and underrated is the basis for the tourism industry. long-term visitors always joke: "Nobody visited Thailand once." This type of repeat visitors already understand how the country works and it is not so dependent on package tours or hotel reservations.

There are a reported decline of 30% occupancy in the hotel, but when you consider that many are repeat visitors for short-term self-catering villa rental instead of a hotelHousing, the industry is still very healthy.

Viewed Thailand Pattaya holiday house is their number increases dramatically by 32% over a period of two years, offering a fascinating insight into the evolving demographics of the tourism industry. Khun Nom, Thai said the owner of holiday homes in Thailand: "We have many regular customers and recommendations based on the fact that giving excellent value for money, free parking for personal service and 24 hours on it.It seems that modern tourists prefer the privacy and freedom offered by a luxury self-catering villa for rent. "

Whether you're a repeat visitor or a first timer, Thailand is a tropical paradise par excellence, a rich culture and an electric atmosphere, where people fall in love at first sight. Many tourists visit the Kingdom for a number of reasons that are out right on the beach, sightseeing and cultural conditions with amazing diving beautiful coral reefs.

ManyWestern men fall in love with the country and the pretty, smiling women in particular. The feeling is mutual Thai women, as a recent survey of the evidence provided. Women in the rural province of northeastern Isaan have long been known to marry a Western man. A recent survey of which 484 are women from the northern provinces covered showed that a whopping 61% suggested that he would like to marry a Western man, not only for its wealth, but also for the respect and loyalty that haveWomen.

No matter what your reason for visiting Thailand to solve the country heavily in the fight against the current economic problems of the world and was struggling against adversity. Thailand will continue to win awards and honors as one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world for one simple reason. Best Party Beaches in Thailand

Thailand is the place to go if you enjoy lively holidays. It has some of the most visually striking beaches in Southeast Asia and the attention for its nightlife. Although it is too low, for miles, most of the tourists who laid his head to Thailand for the enthusiasm.

Celebrations in Pattaya

While a bit 'shabby, is the oldest festival in Pattaya beach in Thailand. This is a couple of hours south of Bangkok on the road and has several hotels and bars per capitaelsewhere in Thailand.
